Romanesque & Gothic Art. 

Gothic Art developed north of the Loire River, between the 12th & 16th centuries. It is characterized by verticality, light, pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and colorful stained glass windows, especially in cathedrals. 
Romanesque Art developed south of the Loire River, between the 11th and 13th centuries, is the first unified artistic style of the Western Christian world. It is characterized by the use of semicircular arches, barrel vaults, columns, and robust walls
