We do not know what the Local Color of objects is, you think you have green eyes, but this is true with a very specific range of light, jump out of that range and the color of your iris will change, the thing is that we do not know what the local color of things is, or rather, the local color is a function or depends on arguments (x,z,…) the light, how your brain decodes, etc.
